Electrical Engineer

SAI’s Energy Services group delivers industry-leading engineering solutions for EV infrastructure and distributed energy resources. As we continue to scale, we are expanding our capabilities to support larger, next-generation energy projects. This role will contribute directly to that growth and help shape the future of our engineering team. This role will join a high-performing engineering group and contribute directly to active project execution, while also helping enhance and evolve the tools, processes, and standards that support SAI’s continued growth. The position offers the opportunity to work on advanced electrical designs, collaborate with experienced engineers and external partners, and play a meaningful role in strengthening a mature engineering function that is scaling to meet the demands of larger and more complex energy projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical Basis of Design (BOD) documents for external EOR firms to produce stamped designs.
  • Build internal processes, templates, standards, and QA/QC checklists that make our engineering repeatable and more scalable.
  • Review EOR deliverables for NEC/NFPA 70E alignment, completeness, and conformance with SAI requirements.
  • Document decisions and technical rationale (design reviews, breaker/setting validation, utility correspondence, and turnover artifacts).
  • Coordinate with EOR partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders to keep scope and design intent aligned.
  • Support commissioning and safety teams in developing practical, code-aware procedures.
  • Manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment; prioritize effectively and communicate status clearly.
  • Research equipment and evaluate specifications; stay engaged with emerging technologies (EV DCFC, DER, BESS, MV distribution).

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience (or equivalent combination of experience and strong technical aptitude).
  • Working knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70) and NFPA 70E; comfortable researching and interpreting applicable sections.
  • Experience with power distribution and one or more of: EV charging, DER, BESS, or MV distribution.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects and collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and learning mindset; eager to take on increasing responsibility.

Preferred

  • Prior responsibility for creating BOD packages, QA/QC checklists, and commissioning documentation.
  • Exposure to arc-flash documentation workflows and reviewing stamped drawings for code alignment.
  • EIT/FE or PE (not required); familiarity with engineering tools is a plus.
