Commission Manager – Energy Services Group
Summary:
The Commission Manager in SAI’s Energy Services Group is a dynamic, highly-skilled professional responsible for leading, coordinating, and executing commissioning activities across a wide portfolio of energy projects. This role is central to the group’s mission of delivering innovative and sustainable energy solutions to clients, ensuring that all systems and processes operate at peak efficiency, safety, and reliability. The Commission Manager serves as a key liaison among clients, project teams, and external stakeholders, balancing technical expertise with project management acumen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership:
- Lead the commissioning process for a variety of energy projects, including new construction, facility upgrades, and renewable energy installations.
- Develop detailed commissioning plans and schedules, aligning project objectives with client requirements and industry standards.
- Oversee a multidisciplinary commissioning team and facilitate collaboration between engineering, operations, and energy consulting staff.
Technical Expertise:
- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation to ensure comprehensive commissioning coverage.
- Coordinate system start-up, functional performance testing, and validation of building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, and renewable energy equipment.
- Identify and troubleshoot technical issues, proposing and implementing solutions that meet industry best practices.
- Ensure all systems meet or exceed regulatory requirements, safety standards, and project goals for energy efficiency and sustainability.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain thorough documentation of commissioning activities, including test protocols, deficiency logs, and verification reports.
- Prepare commissioning reports, summaries, and recommendations for clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure all project records are complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with SAI’s quality management procedures.
Client Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding commissioning activities, schedules, and outcomes.
- Present project updates, technical findings, and performance data to clients in a clear, professional manner.
- Facilitate client training sessions and handover procedures to ensure seamless transition from construction to operations.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Contribute to the development of commissioning tools, processes, and best practices within the Energy Services Group.
- Identify opportunities for system optimization and energy savings, recommending actionable upgrades or modifications.
- Participate in post-occupancy evaluations to assess system performance and client satisfaction, driving ongoing improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all work adheres to relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety within the commissioning team, conducting risk assessments and safety briefings as needed.
- Team Development:
- Mentor junior commissioning engineers and technicians, fostering professional growth and technical proficiency.
- Support recruitment efforts and contribute to the ongoing development of team capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or related field), building sciences, or equivalent technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in building commissioning, energy systems, or project management within the construction or energy services sector.
- Deep understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, controls, plumbing, renewable energy) and associated commissioning protocols.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Proficiency in commissioning software, testing equipment, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Commissioning Professional, LEED Accredited Professional, Building Commissioning Association credentials) preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
