Construction Manager - Southeast Region

Projects include, but not limited to: NC, SC, GA, FL, MS, AL, AR, TX, OK, LA, TN, KY, WV, VA.

Summary:

The Construction Manager will interact directly with other members of the Construction Department, all related company personnel, subcontractors, and client managers and/or other client personnel on all matters.

Ability to travel between job sites daily is required. Work involves frequent overnight travel or longer as well as ability to work weekends/nights depending on project schedule or demands. Periodic, project related travel is to be expected.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site evaluations and surveys. This will include but is not limited to furnishing detailed site, photos, scope documents and any required field surveys as needed;
  • Perform feasibility walks with project stakeholders;
  • Serve as jobsite representative on behalf of SAI clients;
  • Assist in the identification qualification and selection of the various subcontractor required for the project including all site and building trades;
  • Manage and monitor contractors to ensure schedule performance, safety and quality workmanship.
  • Work closely with the contractor(s), architect, civil engineer and associated consultants in developing site specific value engineering options for the work (review designs and design changes with stakeholders as necessary);
  • Maintain and enhance relationships, acting on behalf of SAI clients in matters associated with Federal, State and Municipal matters including the City’s permitting and construction inspection requirements to ensure expeditions to ensure expeditions and successful delivery of project goals and objectives;
  • Coordinate design and construction personnel to ensure accuracy in construction documents and to ensure project is built according to the design;
  • Serve as an information resource by participating in construction meetings, resolving disputes, between various parties, providing ongoing feedback, and coordinating project punch list and close-out;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned including attending required meetings;
  • Involves multi-tasking and a heavy workload of managing multiple site projects at a time, interpersonal relations, constant communications with employees, vendors, customers, local and governmental agencies either face to face, in writing, or over the phone, and constantly changing priorities, demands and overall day to day responsibilities;
  • Attend meetings/report as required and to provide detailed information as to the development and progress of each site.

Requirements:

  • 10 years of field related experience or Electrician’s certification and/or Bachelor’s degree in construction, construction management or technology is required.
  • Must have and retain a valid driver’s license to operate motor vehicles in states in which work is being performed and have an excellent driving record.
  • Must be highly self-motivated, a strong decision maker and have the interpersonal skills necessary to complete the job ensuring construction is completed accurately per client’s specs and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with directing the activities of contractors and crews for mechanical, electrical, civil and structural construction in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to multi-task and to manage a heavy workload, including the ability to manage multiple site projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication ability and possesses excellent customer service as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations; constant communications with employees, vendors, customers, and governmental agencies either face to face, in writing, or over the phone; constantly changing priorities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Word & Excel.

ENVIRONMENT:

  • 25% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions.
  • 75% travel throughout project territory will be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
